Post-exam Euphoria but..
A quick update:
My exams ended on Wednesday.
As luck would have it, my computer has been down since my exams finished, forcing me to face up to the realisation that I am shamefully dependent it.
I attended the wedding of a girl younger than me and wondered why the hell she was binding herself at such a young age and vowing that I would not ever do so. I wore a saree yet again but didn't have the time to breathe let alone take pictures, so please don't ask me for any.
I also had the misfortune to watch Bunty Aur Babli - for those of you who have not watched it, please don't bother wasting 3 hours watching it. It really is such a load of crap! The only good thing about it is the VERY handsome Abhishek Bachchan :-) and even then, I would recommend just looking at a picture of him for three hours rather than watching B & B.
I'm still catching up with friends and sleep as well as getting used to a computer-free existence. But I'll be back...
Before I go, Vatsa kindly sent me an e-mail that compresses all the thoughts that I have been having for the past few months into a reader-friendly poem. I'll be passing this jewel on to my younger female cousins and friends!!
This is the fairy tale we should have been reading as little girls..
Once
upon a time,
~~~~~~~~
in a land far away,
~~~~~~~~
a beautiful, independent,
~~~~~~~~
self-assured
princess
~~~~~~~~
happened upon a frog as she sat,
~~~~~~~~
contemplating ecological issues
~~~~~~~~
on the
shores of an unpolluted pond
~~~~~~~~
in a verdant meadow near
her castle.
~~~~~~~~
The frog hopped into the princess'
lap
~~~~~~~~
and said: Elegant Lady,
~~~~~~~~
I
was once a handsome prince,
~~~~~~~~
until an evil witch cast a
spell upon me.
~~~~~~~~
One kiss from you, however,
~~~~~~~~
and I will turn back
~~~~~~~~
into the dapper,
young prince that I am
~~~~~~~~
and then, my sweet, we can
marry
~~~~~~~~
and set up housekeeping in your castle
~~~~~~~~
with my mother,
~~~~~~~~
where you can prepare
my meals,
~~~~~~~~
clean my clothes, bear my children,
~~~~~~~~
and forever
~~~~~~~~
feel grateful and happy
doing so.
~~~~~~~~
That night,
~~~~~~~~
as the
princess dined sumptuously
~~~~~~~~
on lightly sautéed frog
legs
~~~~~~~~
seasoned in a white wine
~~~~~~~
and onion cream sauce,
~~~~~~~
she chuckled and thought to herself:
~~~~~~~~
I don't fucking think so!!!

hey, against ur wise advise, i went and watched bunty aur babli....it wasnt that bad...there were some quite entertaininy moments....and like lucidly awake said, better than some of the other stuff that gets churned out of our film industry....definitely better than staring at abhishek's pic for 3 hours in my opinion! :-)
